The Admitted Student Open House Is Tomorrow - Some Tips

Tomorrow is a big day. While the Admitted Student Open House is great opportunity for us to meet you, it is really an opportunity for you to interact with deans, faculty, alumni, current students, and administrators. During tomorrow's day-long event, you will learn about our world class faculty, unique academic offerings and professional opportunities offered by SAIS. Current students and alumni will also be on hand to talk about their experiences at all three of our campuses located in Washington, D.C., Bologna, Italy and Nanjing, China. To prepare for tomorrow, here are some things you can do.

Review the schedule of events tonight

Once you arrive, you will be given a booklet that contains the program schedule. But we still encourage you to glance over the schedule sometime tonight to get a general idea of what will be happening and when. The schedule of events can be accessed on the admitted student website.

Dress to Impress

Our professional photographer will be on site to take complimentary headshots, so dress accordingly. Most attendees will wear business casual, some will dress up a little more. Go with what you'd prefer. Just keep in mind that you may need to walk one or two blocks since since breakout sessions will be located in each of our three buildings.

Get Updates and Tweet using #NextGenSAIS

This is our official Open House hashtag this year. We will tweet out reminders about upcoming Open House activities throughout the day which you can receive by adding us on Twitter. Remember to take pictures and tweet throughout the day so your fellow admits who can't make it can see what's going on. We'll have a Instagram prop too, if that's your thing. We'll also take candid photos to share in an album on our Admitted Student Facebook group.

Use WMATA's Metrorail and Metrobus Trip Planning Tools

If you're not native to the District and you plan to travel via Metro, I would recommend reviewing the Metro map ahead of time. The Dupont Circle stop, which operates along the red line and the Farragut West stop, which operates along the orange line are the two stop closet to campus. If you plan to travel via Metro, plan to walk a few blocks from your stop to campus - maybe 5-15 minutes. The metro map can be accessed on WMATA's website here via the Trip Planning tools. The Metro's trip planning tools provide itineraries and service alerts for trips on Metrorail and Metrobus.

Meet these People

The entire Washington Office of Admissions team will be in attendance, including our Assistant Dean of Global Enrollment and Recruitment, our Associate Director of Admissions, our Assistant Directors, our Admissions Aide and Coordinator, and our Director of Executive Education Recruitment. Feel free to say hello and ask us questions, we'll wear name-tags. Our Director of Admissions for SAIS Europe, who flew in today from Italy, will also be in attendance. Selfies are welcome.  Also, our alumni panelists, current students, and staff will join you for the Evening Reception. The reception will be a good opportunity to meet some of them and chat (when you're mouth isn't full with appetizers of course).
