Event Recap: Johns Hopkins SAIS International Dinner 2016

Given that international students make up 43% of the MA class, it is no surprise that the International Dinner is one of our favorite annual traditions here at Johns Hopkins SAIS. Featuring a lively talent show, a smorgasbord of cultural cuisine, and a number of students dressed in traditional cultural garb, the International Dinner allows students let loose before time comes to buckle down and study for midterms.

This year, students brought a vast array of cultural dishes including Chicken kothu, latkes, Som Tam, and Brazilian cheese breadeither as part of a cooking team, as a partner to a student organization, or as individuals. Stage performances ranged from dance to music to acrobatics.

At the end of the night, after having tried food from 19 SGA-sponsored cooking teams, students voted for Best Dish of the Night and Best Performance of the Night. Looking at photos from the night, I would venture to guess that it was a pretty close call.
