SAIS Leads

Yesterday, we welcomed our new students to campus.  But earlier this week, we welcomed some of our rising second year students back early.
Every year before Orientation, we host a leadership development conference calledSAISLeads: Discovering Your Leadership Style, Potential, and Impact

When reviewing applications, one of the things we look is aptitude for leadership; the SAISLeads conference is just one of the ways SAIS helps our students to take that aptitude and develop it into applicable skills.

Welcome to all the new SAISers!

Today is a big day at SAIS: Orientation!
Our newest class of M.A. students came together on campus for the first time, and they attend numerous sessions preparing them for the next two years.  It’s a very exciting day, because for many of the staff on campus, we finally get to meet the students we’ve been working with and corresponding with for many months.

The newest M.I.P.P. class got an earlier start with sessions yesterday:
You can view more photos as they are posted on the SAIS Flickr photostream or by following @SAISHopkins on Twitter.
So, welcome to the SAIS family!  We’re glad to have you, and make yourself comfortable–this will be home for the next two years.

Last week, SAIS hosted a group of Taiwanese college students with Youth Career Development Association during their week-long visit in the U.S. capital. This trip is part of an annual program from Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education (Taiwan), in which several hundred students from various colleges compete for one of 30 spots.  The program included a presentation by Sidney Jackson, Director of Admissions for SAIS and a question-and-answer panel session with several recent Taiwanese SAIS alumni (pictured above).

Campus is bustling!

Summertime at SAIS can be quiet.  Our recent grads are off at their new jobs, and our current students are off into the wild world pursuing summer internships.  But at the end of July, things start to heat up again when many of our new MA students descend onto campus forPre-Term!
Welcome to all our newest students! For more pictures of Pre-Term, check out the SAIS Flickr stream.
