This past Wednesday, almost 200 prospective students joined us at Summerfest, a graduate school reception event hosted by SAIS, along with our colleagues from Columbia SIPA, Georgetown SFS, Tufts Fletcher School, and Princeton WWS.  Alumni panelists from each school discussed their careers in international affairs, and how their graduate degrees have helped them grow and achieve more professionally.  After the panel, prospective students had the opportunity to speak with alumni and admissions officers one-on-one to learn more about the individual programs and how the admissions process works.
If you missed it the first time around, don’t worry!  We’ll be hosting another reception on July 9.  For more information and to RSVP, please click here.  We’ll also be hosting a similar reception in New York City on July 16.
We’re also working on finalizing our recruiting schedule for the fall, which we’ll be posting on our website soon.  You can check out our upcoming events here.

Things are starting to heat up in Washington, DC, and that can only mean one thing: Summerfest is coming up!

On Tuesday, June 17 and Wednesday, July 9, four other top international relations graduate schools will join SAIS to present Summerfest, a reception featuring admissions representatives, alumni and current students who will talk about careers in international relations and admissions requirements for entry into graduate school.
In addition to SAIS, institutions represented include:
  • Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs
  • Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service
  • Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School of Public Service
  • Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy

Saying Goodbye

Two weeks ago, many SAISers had a pretty big day.  Maybe the biggest day of their academic lives?

I’m talking, of course, about Commencement!  It’s a great, joyous day, with lots of smiles and pictures.  It’s always exciting to see our students celebrate this achievement, and moving forward to take the next step in their lives.  Look how happy they are!
But it’s also a little bittersweet.  In the admissions office, we’ve watched our students go through the entire process.  We meet them sometimes before they even apply, guide them through the application process, and help them make their decision about where to attend.  And then we have the opportunity to watch them grow academically and professionally during their time at SAIS; some students work in the admissions office, others participate by interviewing applicants, and still others volunteer for recruiting events.  Even if a student doesn’t get involved with admissions, we still know their names and see their faces everyday, and it’s a little sad to see them go.
But, oh! the places they go, and the things they do after they leave our hallowed halls always amazes.  And sometimes, when we’re lucky, they occasionally come back as alums and help recruit!
You can see the full video, and more pics of commencement online here.
