Bringing Down Walls

Last week, this appeared on campus:

SAIS students were encouraged to write what walls their SAIS education would help them bring down.

This was a lead up to a day-long event on Friday, May 16: Walls That Have Fallen - Walls Still to Fall, a day-long conference discussing the fall of the Iron Curtain and the future of democracy, freedom, and human rights in Europe. (In case you didn’t know, May 16 was the 25th anniversary of the cutting of the barbed wire at the Austrian-Hungarian border, which was the first tear in the iron curtain, and eventually led to the fall of the Berlin Wall.)

See more pictures of the days events–and the tearing down of the above wall!–on the Center for Transatlantic Relations Facebook page here.

Thanks for reading!
