Did you know…

… that SAIS is more than a hotbed of intellectual classroom discussion and hitting the books?  The SAIS experience is just as much about what happens outside the classroom as in.  Take a look at these photo essays from the SAIS Observer highlighting some of the great outside-the-classroom events of Spring 2014:
And as a bonus, check out the cherry blossoms.  Not exactly a SAIS experience, but definitely a quintessential DC spring activity that every SAISer must experience at least once!

Open House 2014!

Last week, on April 9, we hosted over 256 newly admitted students for the biggest event of the year: Open House!

Look at all those happy faces!

The newest members of the SAIS community were greeted by SAIS Dean Vali Nasr…

… and SAIS Student Government President Anne Gilman.

One highlight of the morning was a talk and question-and-answer session with Ambassador Robert Ford, former U.S. Ambassador to Algeria and Syria, a SAIS alumnus who received his M.A. in 1983.

Other highlights included a panel of rock star SAIS faculty…

… and an impressive panel of SAIS alumni, from almost every decade of SAIS.

Did you have to miss Open House this year? Don’t fret, you can view videos of selected Open House panels online here: http://www.sais-jhu.edu/resources/admissions/open-house-admitted-students.

You can view more official photos on the SAIS Flickr feed, or you can see unofficial photos and read what other people have to say about the SAIS Open House on Twitter. You can tweet about your SAIS Open House using #goingtoSAIS.
